iLife for MavericksWhat’s the meaning of iLife? Apple recently announced that its iLife suite would be free for customers who purchase a new Mac computer or iOS 7 compatible device.

You simply have to visit the Mac App Store to get iLife and click on the “Download” or “Update” button. The iLife app only comes free for the kind of device you’ve purchased.

The iLife suite consists of three apps- iMovie, iPhoto, and GarageBand. You get all of these apps for FREE when you buy any new Mac, iPad, iPod touch or iPhone.

Note that all three of these apps require OS X Mavericks or later to run on a Mac. If you’re running an earlier version of OS X, you will not be able to download them.

If you own iLife ‘11 – even if you didn’t buy it through the
App Store – you should be able to download the latest version for free. If you
don’t see the free upgrade option in the App Store, try logging out of the App
Store, then log in again – it should be there, now.  (If you don’t own iLife ’11, you may have to
purchase it.)
