Apple’s two-step verification now requires app-specific passwords

Hello Apple lovers!

In case you haven’t heard, starting today app-specific passwords are required to access your iCloud data via third party apps.

This includes but is not limited to:

• Microsoft Outlook
• Mozilla Thunderbird
• Other mail, contacts, and calendar apps

So, how does this affect you?

If you currently utilize Apple’s two-step verification to enhance your iCloud security, then you will need to set up app-specific passwords to access your third party apps.
