Using a laptop in the evening or dark can be hard on your eyes. Eye strain is a definite issue one can have when using a laptop for long periods of time. Having a way to alleviate eye strain is a feature now available to Apple computers. Apple has addressed eye strain by creating a mode to use that is easier on your eyes. This feature is called Dark Mode and can be enabled for your MacBook Pro or any Apple computer running OS X Yosemite. Dark mode turns your dock from light gray to black and is much easier on your eyes.

Let’s go over how to enable and disable this feature.

Enable Dark Mode

  1. From the Apple dock click Settings.
  2. Next, click General.
  3. Select Use dark menu bar and dock.
  4. Close System Preferences.

Disable Dark Mode

  1. From the Apple dock, click Settings.
  2. Next, click General.
  3. Deselect Use dark menu bar and dock.
  4. Close System Preferences.
