Many of us enjoy listening to music as we transfer our consciousness to sleep mode. The problem that exists is you generally do not want this audio content to continue playing through the night, especially if you are an audiobook listener.

While it is not immediately apparent, or available within the Music app, there is a rather simple way to prevent continuous playback. Simply proceed to the built-in iOS 7 Clock app on your iPhone. Launch the app then proceed to the Timer tab. Now you can set the amount of time you would like to elapse before the music turns off.

Then you will need to make a change to the ‘When Timer Ends’ option. By default, it will be set to an audible alarm. Simply tap on this area and navigate to the last item in the menu in order to change this setting.

After you have selected Stop Playing, make sure you tap Set in order to confirm this change. You will then be taken back to the main area for the Timer, as shown in the first image. It is important to note that you will need to tap on Start each time you wish to use this option, either before or after you commence music playback.

This function can also be used on the iPod touch, or your iPad and it also works when playing video content within the Videos app.
