Setting Up Your New Mac
Congratulations on setting up your new Mac East users can count on for a smooth start. Whether this is your first Mac or you’re upgrading from an older model, we’re here to help you get started. Related: Buy a New Mac and have your Windows too
What You’ll Need:
• Your Apple ID and password
• A stable internet connection
• About 30-45 minutes to complete setup
Step 1: Power On and Choose Your Language
Press the power button and follow the on-screen prompts to select your country and language.
Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi
Choose your home or office network and enter the password. Your Mac needs internet to activate and set up features.
Step 3: Sign In with Your Apple ID
This connects your Mac to iCloud, the App Store, and all your Apple devices. If you don’t have an Apple ID yet, you can create one during setup.
Step 4: Set Up Touch ID (if available)
Place your finger on the Touch ID sensor several times so your Mac can learn your fingerprint. This lets you unlock your Mac and approve purchases securely.
Step 5: Choose Your Privacy Settings
Decide whether to share diagnostic data with Apple and enable location services. You can change these anytime in System Settings.
Step 6: Migration Assistant (Optional)
If you’re moving from another Mac or PC, Migration Assistant can transfer your files, apps, and settings. You can also do this later.
