MacBook Pro with Retina — The Ultimate Notebook | Buffalo & Amherst

Editor’s Note: This article was originally published in 2013, but the insights on the MacBook Pro with Retina — Amherst remain relevant today. While some specific details may have changed, the information serves as a valuable reference for users in Buffalo, Amherst, and Western New York.

It’s been a only a year since Apple announced its beast of a machine known as the MacBook Pro, the super powerful notebook that most Apple users would have clung to as their favorite machine of all time. But then the 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina was released, and users are reconsidering their previous stance, and clamouring to get their hands on one. The new MacBook Pro is designed with one thing in mind: power. Or POWER, if you prefer. It is essentially the “go to” notebook for anyone who wants a desktop performance in a laptop form. And in case you’re wondering, yes it is faster than the 2012 version, by a long shot. It may look similar to its predecessor, but the internals have been hyper-charged and built for speed.

Here’s some tech vitals:

-The 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina can be put together with several different CPU options, but comes standard out of the box with a 2.0 GHz quad-core Intel Core (i7-4750HQ) processor. Which, if you so desire, can be upgraded to a 2.3 GHz quad-core (i7-4850HQ), or even a 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core (i7-4960HQ) for even more power.

-All three CPD options have an integrated Intel Iris Pro 5200 Graphics with DDR3L SDRAM that is shared with main memory. Meaning all tasks will essentially function at the same speed, and makes multitasking a breeze.

-Its comes with a ton of versatile ports, including: a MagSafe 2 port, two Thunderbolt 2 inputs, 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, headphone jack, and two microphone jacks, and a full-size SD card slot.

-The display is, well, out of this world: 2,880-by-1,800-pixel panel shooting out 220 pixels per every viewable inch. That’s as crystal clear as you can get.

Honestly, this notebook is worth every penny. It’s fast, sleek, light (4.5lbs), portable, durable, oh, and POWERFUL. It’s a thing of beauty that Mashable has declared as the (almost perfect laptop), and in a market saturated with one new gadget after another, being almost perfect is a close to perfection as anyone is gonna get.
